Interbrand released
its list of the world’s most valuable brands today – Apple is on top
for the first time. For Apple doubters it is worth reading the Interbrand
citation – they send a lot of kudos the way of Apple CEO, Tim Cook.
After the launch of the 5S and 5C a number
of commentators pointed out that the iPhone accounts for about
half of Apple’s revenues. Another member of the top 10 most
valuable brand’s club is Samsung at number 8, the dominant player in
smartphones by volume. Smartphones rule.
Google is
up there too, the dominant force in the smartphone OS market. Microsoft is
number 5 on the list. And yes, the comparison starts to break down there. Not
so dominant a force in phones or tablets, Microsoft is still number 3 in mobile
OS.
